The Life of Riley! Perspectives from around school.

Derived from the popular blog Humans of New York, Humans of St. Clair is designed to feature the faces of our school. The original blog site was started by Brandon Stanton and has quickly become one of the most popular destinations on the internet and social media. Set up through Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, Stanton’s blog features his photographs of random people on the streets of New York City and around the world. He begins by approaching people and asks them unique and interesting questions about themselves or their lives. Once they start to feel comfortable with the idea of talking to a stranger, he politely asks if he can take their picture, which he then posts on social media along with quotes from their conversation (with permission from the subject, of course). I was inspired by the daily stories that come out of the blog, and decided to bring the idea to Upper St. Clair. Just like Humans of New York, the Humans of Upper St. Clair page strives to share with the school our fellow classmates’ stories. It teaches us the benefits of having a conversation with something new, and emphasizes the idea that everyone is unique and has their own story. Through Humans of Upper St. Clair, everyone can get to know the people who make our school a little better.

Q: If you were to win the lottery, what would you do with the money?

Leah: I would first pay off my siblings’ student loans and then put a good majority of it away and invest in stocks. I would buy into Taco Bell and other fast food chains in order to insure endless compensation, and then with the rest of my money I would buy a ton of pickles.

Anna: I would give 100 million to my parents, 25 million to my brother and sister, buy a financial advisor and a lawyer, and then I would take my family on a vacation around the world. With the remaining money I would adopt five dogs, and then set aside the rest for the future. A personal concert from Beyonce would also be really cool, so I’d probably set aside money for that because why not?

Riley: If I won the lottery I would buy my mother a really nice house and a Beamer. Then with the rest of my money I would travel the world and buy really nice houses in really cool and unique places.

Q: If you were to have any superpower, what would it be and why?

Leah: I would want to read people’s minds because I think it would be interesting to be able to find out things about people whenever I want. I would want to be able to turn my power on and off, though, because it may get annoying if I just know other people’s thoughts all the time. Plus, if people are thinking bad things about me, then I’d rather not know.

Anna: I would want to have the ability to talk to animals because I wanna be Eliza Thornberry, and because I’ve always wanted to know what my dogs are thinking/ saying.

Riley: I would wanna be able to fly because getting around places would be easier, and it just seems so cool to just jump up and fly whenever you want. If I couldn’t fly, though, I would want to have the power to refill anything at anytime without having to be there. So for example if I needed to put more money into my bank account or gas in my car, I could without having to leave my bed.StudentIIIStudentI
